Player Rarities and the Pity System, Explained
In a squad-building idle football manager, not all players are created equal. Cards come in tiers of rarity, and understanding how rarity and the pity system work is the key to building a team that actually competes. Here is what you need to know.
Most idle managers sort players into four tiers — Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Higher rarity generally means higher base stats and a bigger upgrade ceiling, so Legendaries anchor a strong squad. But rarity is not everything: a well-upgraded Epic in the right position often beats a raw, unleveled Legendary.
You get new players by opening packs, usually paid for with in-game currency you earn through matches and idle income. Each pull has a chance at every rarity, weighted so commons are frequent and legendaries are rare — and that scarcity is exactly what makes a big pull so exciting.
Here is the part that keeps it fair: the pity system. Pity guarantees a high-rarity pull after a set number of tries without one. In practice, it means a Legendary is never truly out of reach — every pull nudges you closer, so a dry streak always ends. It removes the worst-case bad luck and rewards steady play.
So pull smart. Do not dump everything the moment you have currency; save up for bigger batches, keep the best player from each pull, and let your pity counter build toward a guaranteed high-rarity drop. Then slot your new signings into the starting eleven and let Smart Swap re-optimize your Team Power in one tap.
In Football Idle Manager you pull players across four rarities with a built-in pity system, so a Legendary is always on the horizon — then build your best squad, stack manager perks and climb the leagues. It is out now in open beta on Google Play, free to play.
